Microsoft is rapidly expanding the ways people can automate work with AI: prompts, scheduled prompts, workflows, agents and now Copilot Cowork.
But the more important question is not only what these tools can do. It is what they really cost, where they create value, and where token- or credit-based automation can become expensive very quickly.
In this independent Shapers of AI session, we take a critical look at Copilot Cowork: what it is, how it differs from the regular Copilot experience, where it fits among Microsoft’s other automation options, and what communication teams should realistically use it for.
We will look at practical examples, discuss limitations and cost drivers, and explore when Cowork may be useful and when a simple prompt, workflow, or agent is the better, safer, or more cost-effective choice.

The focus is not on theory, but on understanding the basic building blocks: what the agent should do, which knowledge or data it needs, where the boundaries are, and how we can test whether it gives useful answers.
We will use a simple communication-related use case and go through the process step by step. The goal is not to create a perfect production-ready agent, but to make the concept tangible and discuss what communication teams need to consider before building agents themselves.
